Bangle was on the right track if you consider how many car companies, including Mercedes, have copied Bangle's design language. Yeah, that first 7 and 6 series trunk was nasty but the rest is still being copied 14 years later...
They're being copied and it's a disaster. The largest degradation of the man-made visual landscape in my lifetime. Worse than post-modernism! Audi and Porsche have largely resisted, and prospered. Thanks
Um, well, Audi gave us insanely oversized grills which almost everyone, including now BMW have copied. Porsche is mostly stuck in the 60s because, well, they have to to stay relevant. I'm not sure those are the best examples of something better than Bangle. Now Mazda, now there is a good design language :)
