Who, in their right mind, would trust her to actually do this if she promised it tomorrow? She has no credibility nor is she currently President.

Regarding your PPS: Trudeau is cutting immigration because his government totally F'd over Canada and now 7% of the country's population is made up of non-permanent residents. Consider yourselves lucky this bafoon isn't running your country.

It won't work. Harris is too phoney, and nobody will believe anything she says about immigration.

A true Hail Mary for KH will be to spend a billion dollars in advertising on every medium in the last week to scare the bejezzus out of young women and get them to vote.

She's been doing that since Biden dropped out of the race.

She hasn't been doing a very effective job of it, though.

I think her mistake is she is making her pitch too much about Trump personally, instead of making her case against the whole Republican Party. The post-Dobbs record is clear - the Republican Party has banned Abortion in every state where they have full control.

It might work if she had a shred of credibility. I doubt there is a person in America who would believe that she wanted a total moratorium on immigration for her whole first term.

Nice to see you posting again, Mickey. Obviously, the Harris campaign and the Democratic Party writ large are more concerned with maintaining the ability to flow, employ, and assimilate immigrants in the United States than with winning critically important political contests. The same dynamic is at play in most of Europe, only the former Communist East excepted. Kinda makes one ponder just why such priorities exist and wonder at their tenacious hold on the worldwide West's political class.

Occam's razor. The Democratic Party sees migrants as its voters, even if they can't vote right now. And their donors only care about maintaining the flow of cheap labor.

And are European leaders captured by the same calculus? I'm a bit skeptical of the voting support provided ultra-liberal European parties by highly, um, conservative Muslim and African immigrants. Similarly, I look askance at claims such immigrants are low-cost "plug-ins" to replace Western workers in short supply due to catering birth rates all over the Western world. Replace the Japanese and Japan is no longer Japan in any substantive sense.

Don't the EU bureaucrats now make most of the decisions that matter? European voters have a tough row to hoe. They have to replace national politicians first, and then they have to withdraw from the EU and run their own countries from now on.

"European leaders" hardly have the same calculus, in other words, but I don't think either that they care about France/Germany/Belgium remaining substantively and national-spiritually France/Germany/Belgium in the same way the Japanese, Polish, Hungarians do with respect to their countries. Blue US is on the "who cares" spectrum while the coalition on the other side expresses different values.

Japan does not allow immigrants at all, but this will push them to inevitable economic collapse as birth rates have collapsed.

Keeping down wages is the primary motivator of industries everywhere.

A better idea so Trump can trump Kammy (bear with me):

1) Use Jiu-jitsu - announce that the Trump administration would approve a fast-track (the details are critical to this)* route -to-citizenship for illegal aliens already here; and

2) Close the border. Now.

This has the double-virtue of taking what everybody ASSUMES are future Democrat voters and pushing them towards the conservative camp, while initiating a pause in immigration to allow the country, states, counties et al (and ICE and any other agencies involved) a chance to catch their collective breaths.

Any arguments against?

Her boss, whoever that what would be (maybe Obama?), would never agree.

Nice idea and wittily presented. But is there really any getting around the obvious fact that our current Dems are the party of open borders, inflation, perpetual war, defunding the police, lawfare, censorship and identity politics? Everyday Americans dislike all the above.

Not gonna happen. She crazy.

It's a good idea, but

1. No one would, or should believe her.

2. It would be an admission that Trump is right, and Trump has a (comparatively) proven track record of trying to minimize illegal immigration.
